INCA OPC Dataserver

All IPCOS products are build around an own OPC dataserver. This dataserver acts mainly as a switchboard for all IPCOS applications. The OPC dataserver not only OPC ports but also a TCP/IP port. This allows computers running a non-Windows operating system (Unix, DOS, …) to connect to the OPC dataserver. The TCP/IP software client is also available from IPCOS.

A nice feature of our OPCdataserver is the 'delegator'-functionality. This is very useful if you want build your INCA environment around our OPC dataserver besides the already present OPC server of the control system. It is not necessary anymore to copy the data from one dataserver to the other. With delegator you can browse on the control system OPC server trough our OPC dataserver as if it a sub-directory of our dataserver.

 

Together with the OPCdataserver a monitor program is delivered with the following functionality: 

•  Browsing 
• Reading individual tags data from the server 
• Writing to individual tags on the server

The OPC dataserver supports 8 security levels. Depending on the password that is provided by a client, different queries to the server are allowed. E.g. Low security level access will only allow a client to read certain tags, but will refuse write operations.
The OPC dataserver supports all OPC Version 1.0a and Version 2.0 interfaces.
