Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemical Industries Co., Alexandria, Uhde Services and IPCOS start an Advanced Process Control project in Egypt.
Uhde Services and IPCOS start the implementation of an APC system on the ammonia plant of Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemical Industries Company in Alexandria, Egypt.
This project is part of an instrumentation and control system retrofit project on the Abu Qir II fertilizer complex consisting of an ammonia, urea, nitric acid, ammonium nitrate and utilities plant.
APC for ammonia becomes more and more known in the fertilizer industry. Projects in the past have shown production increases, energy savings and steam export increases. APC not only pushes the plants to the operational limits but also stabilizes the plant so that less operator interventions are needed, less alarms are generated. This means that operators can focus on more things besides ‘keep the plant running’.
Uhde Services and IPCOS will bring detailed process know-how, APC technology and APC on ammonia expertise together in this project. This is the best guarantee for successful APC projects
Uhde Services selected IPCOS as APC provider because of their superior software technology and their outstanding experience in the fertilizer industry. We are convinced that after successful completion of the project more pretenders in Egypt will implement APC on their fertilizer plants
