SABIC Ibn Zahr’s Phased Approach to Advanced Process Control

SABIC Ibn Zahr (Saudi-European Petrochemical Company) has entrusted IPCOS NV of Belgium (IPCOS) and their Saudi Arabian partner NAIZAK Global Engineering Systems (NAIZAK) for providing them the solution for performance monitoring, assessment and optimization of the base layer control loops / structures for their Control System Optimization project on lump sum turnkey (LSTK) basis.

The scope of Control System Optimization project includes supply, installation, configuration, testing and commissioning of PlantTriage® Loop Performance Management solution from ExperTune Inc. USA for 500 base layer control loops on the DCS of the MTBE and PP plants. The project scope also includes 1) consulting services for loop performance assessment, tuning and benefit assessment, 2) design and engineering services for modification of control structures (where required), and 3) supervision of installation and commissioning of modified control structures including its performance monitoring after commissioning. IPCOS and NAIZAK process control consultants will provide these services jointly.

The complete project including commissioning of PlantTriage® Loop Performance Management solution and consulting and engineering for all plants will be completed within approximately 8 months from the zero date.
